A policeman from NII, detained by the NAC in a corruption case. He allegedly asked for bribes not to document two cases of unauthorized trade
18.01.2024 145 ViewsAn officer from the National Inspectorate of Investigations (NII) of the General Police Inspectorate was detained this morning by the NAC and AP prosecutors in a case of passive corruption. The policeman is suspected of having claimed and accepted undue financial means from a man not to document two cases of unauthorized trade.
In fact, the policeman, together with a colleague from NII, would have accepted and received 27 000 lei from a man not to document unauthorized trade carried out by a group of persons and on the same day, he allegedly received from the same man another 750 euros not to take action on another case of unauthorized trade.
Today, the NAC carried out searches at homes of the two policemen and in a car within the criminal investigation actions, to identify the individuals involved in committing the crime and to accumulate the evidence for the case. As a result, one of them was detained for 72 hours and placed in the NAC Detention Center.
Currently, other actions are being carried out for the objective examination and under all the aspects, under the processual management of the Anticorruption Prosecution Office.
We remind that every person who has been accused of committing a crime shall be presumed innocent until proven guilty according to law.
