Two police officers detained by the NAC, after being denounced at the National Anticorruption Line 0 800 55555

On the 8th of March, a man contacted the NAC, via national anticorruption line and informed the officers of the Center that two police partol officers would have claimed a bribe from him.
To be exact, on March 8, two police partol agents from the National Patrol Inspectorate stopped a car with foreign registration numbers, detecting the driver was drunk and without driving license. In order not to hold him liable, they demanded from the driver 300 euros, according to the whistleblower, they would have received immediately 1000 leis.
A criminal investigation was initiated in this case, the rest of the amount of money was passed under the control of the NAC officers. The police agents were detained following the transaction and were placed in the detention center of the NAC. If convicted, they risk up to 10 years of imprisonment, a penal fine and deprivation of the right to hold certain positions for the period of up to 15 years.
We remind, that in 2019, 45 police agents were documented for the involvement in corruption acts, since the beginning of this year, the number of police agents, investigated for corruption facts reached 12.
