The first meeting with the exponents of the justice sector took place, today, at Bălți Court, where the magistrates and employees of the institution participated in a workshop, supported by representatives of the NAC, ACA and NIA. The agenda of the workshop was divided into three parts, which corresponded to the fields of competence of the project's organizing institutions.
The NAC representative, Ion Pruteanu, head of the Anticorruption Education Directorate, spoke to the magistrates about undue influences, where and how they should be reported, but also about whistleblowers and the ways to disclose illegal practices and the protection of whistleblowers. The legal regime of gifts was another important topic on the agenda, as well as the assessment of institutional integrity. Those present at the training learned about the evaluation stages, the authorization and the carrying out of professional integrity testing, but also how the professional integrity record can be requested. A number of case studies were prepared and discussed with the participants.
The ACA member spoke to the audience about the professional ethics and deontology of judges and court employees. The rules of conduct that a judge must be guided by, as well as the restrictions in their professional and personal life, were discussed. On the part related to the declaration of wealth and personal interests, as well as the legal regime of conflicts of interest, the NIA representative intervened.
During the course of the project, the NAC and the partner institutions aimed to reach all the courts in the country with training. The activities are carried out with the support of the American people through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
