A training session, focusing on public communication and presentation techniques, is taking place between April 22-24 at the National Anticorruption Center. The public communication expert, Ms. Sarmizia Fetcu, head of the Communication and Public Relations Office of the Romanian Anticorruption Directorate General, will train the NAC officers, as well as the representatives of the General Prosecutor`s Office and the Anticorruption Prosecutor`s Office, how to communicate professionally with the public.
The course will address issues related to the organization of press events, what are the skills a spokesman should have, how to manage the crisis, but also what the communication of the public institution requires on the social networks. The expert will also organize practical lessons for participants to enhance the knowledge gained during the training. This will simulate a press conference / briefing or public statements that will be filmed and then analyzed to identify potential communication errors.
An important topic to be addressed in the course is also the one of false news. The expert will present ways to recognize propaganda and provide solutions to prevent and counteract fake news. At the same time, there will also be discussed the legal aspects regarding the free access of citizens to information of public interest - in which cases the information is exempt from free access, as well as the response times, in which a public entity must belong.
We would like to point out that this is the second training on the topic of communication intended for the beneficiaries of the European Union Twinning project "Support for Strengthening the Operational Capacities of the Law Enforcement Authorities of the Republic of Moldova in the Field of Prevention and Investigation of Corruption." The project was launched in May 2017 and will end at the end of September 2019. Among its beneficiaries are the National Anticorruption Center, the General Prosecutor`s Office, the Anticorruption Prosecutor`s Office, the Customs Service and the General Police Inspectorate.
