The professional day of the National Anticorruption Center was celebrated this year in a special way. Employees of the NAC and the Anticorruption Prosecutor`s Office had invited their children to the office to show where parents work and what their core activities are. However, the visit did not just end with an office trip, but also with a holiday program.
Thus, over 200 children have had a diverse program - from animation and games to target shooting with prizes from NAC masked officers. Some children recognized their parents as masks, which was a big surprise. That`s because it was the first time they saw their parents in the equipment.
The children didn`t come with the empty hands to the Center. Each of them donated a book from their personal library. Over 300 books, collected by the children of the NAC employees and the
Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office, are about to reach the library of a village in the country. At the end of the event, the children launched balloons with the message "I choose NAC", showing the support for the anti-corruption fight.
Among the actions dedicated to the NAC`s Professional Day, a new spot of anticorruption volunteers was introduced, in which young people argued why they chose to associate with the NAC. In the film, launched with the support of UNDP Moldova, they urged the young generation not to give or take bribes and explained ``such as life without corruption".
In a recent interview, NAC Director Bogdan Zumbreanu said that for years, governments have talked about the importance of the anti-corruption fight, but things have not moved in the same way as the adopted strategies. "It has already been demonstrated that the fight against corruption has a momentary effect. Big heads fell. Political crises have been caused, but corruption schemes have not been eradicated because others have been arrested instead of those arrested. This state of affairs has been generated by many circumstances, including too gentle punishments applied to corrupts.
On the other hand, however, we have struck a great tolerance of society towards bribery. We, as a society, want to change things around us, but we very hardly start changing from one`s own person. That is why the NAC chose to attract young people to fight and prevent corruption, convincing them that they can have a prosperous future here at home. "According to the NAC director, the only thing the institution wants is that these young people who deserve all respect, not to buy their knowledge and to urge others to be integrated.
We would like to remind that the National Anticorruption Center is the successor of the Center for Combating Economic Crimes and Corruption and was created on 6 June 2002 as an institution empowered to prevent and combat corruption and acts related to corruption. In the course of its work, the NAC has managed files that targeted high-ranking officials, deciphered corruption schemes in state institutions, and conducted thousands of information, education and awareness-raising actions for both the public and the private sector.
