An investigating officer from the Economic Fraud Investigation Section IP Hincesti was detained by the NAC officers and anticorruption prosecutors within a case of passive corruption.
According to the whistelblower, the investigating officer, being a public person with a special status, having responsibilities to prevent, detect, investigate economic crimes, contraventions and frauds, has claimed the amount of 300 euro in order not to hold him liable, in connection with illegal activity of the entrepreneur on providing services of manufactoring metalwork.
An intermediary contacted the entrepreneur and set up a meeting to get 6 000 lei, the equivalent of 300 euro, money claimed by the police officer. As a result, the intermediary passed the amount of 6 000 lei to the suspect. Following the searches at policeman's home, the money was voluntarily handed over.
Currently, the police officer and the intermediary are placed in the NAC detention center for 72 hours.
A criminal prosecution was initiated in this case on the basis of art. 324 - passive corruption.

The criminal prosecution is conducted by the Office of Anticorruption Prosecutor.
