The Ministry of Education, Culture and Research (MECC) and the National Anticorruption Center signed today, January, 23, a Collaboration Agreement on strengthening the integrity of the education system and promoting integrity standards in the society through preventing and combating informal payments in the education system and corruption of the teaching staff. The Collaboration Agreement was signed by the minister Corneliu POPOVICI and the NAC director, Ruslan FLOCEA.
The document provides the creation of the interdepartmental group to monitor the process and the way of examining the petitions, in which the acts of corruption are reported, informing the employees from the education system about the integrity standards, mechanisms and prevention tools (including National Anticorruption Line and specialized lines of the institution), the corruption consequences and development of the active civic spirit regarding the corruption whistleblowing , organizing and carrying out the training activities for parents and law representatives of the children regarding their role in eradicating the phenomenon of corruption, etc.
The minister, Corneliu POPOVICI, thanked the National Anticorruption Center for the provided support in the process of combating the phenomenon of corruption in the education system, mentioning that this Collaboration Agreement will contribute to strengthening the interinstitutional collaboration.
In his turn, the NAC director, Ruslan FLOCEA underlined the importance of encouraging the employees and beneficiaries of the education system to report the authorities about the systematic corruption cases and to collaborate in the process of conducting the investigation.
At the same time, within the meeting the officials discussed about the work trips of the MECC and NAC employees to the districts of the country to carry out trainings and raising awareness campaigns in the field of education, providing methodological support from the NAC in elaborating documents education policies and providing expertise to eliminate the risk of corruption, identifying and denouncing systemic cases for collecting informal payments within educational institutions, etc.
In the end, the parties agreed on consolidating efforts to prevent and combat corruption.
