A chief of a devision within the Environmental Inspectorate in Cahul was detained by the officers of the General Territorial Directorate "South" of the NAC and anticorruption prosecutors, being suspected of misuse of the sercive car, the acquisition of fuel from the institution management, and forgery of some acts. In his actions, he had as accomplice the manager of a network of petrol stations in Cahul.
In fact, the chief if the direction would have illegally acquired, during 2019, 1000 litres of petrol, that he had mentioned in the reports as the consumption for the service car. Together with the manager of the Peco petrol station, he would have extracted from the service card the amount of fuel, falsifying the acts and indicating the incorrect travel itinerary to justify the consumption.
After documenting the stated facts, it was found that the appointee introduced in the roadmap the days when he was on the sick leave or rest. As the result, the excessive fuel consumption became suspect, and on the basis of the suspicions a penal case was started for abuse of office and forgery of public acts.
The suspect was detained for 72 hours, after the searches at home and his car were carried out. Later, the manager of the petrol station was escorted to the GTD South as being recognized as accomplice in committing the frauds.
If he is found guilty, the public official risks a fine from 1350 to 2350 conventional units or imprisonment from 2 to 6 years, in both cases with deprivation of the right to occupy certain functions or to exercise a certain activity for the period from 5 to 10 years. We remind, that every person is presumed to be innocent until the final and irrevocable decision of the court is pronounced.
