A young man of 29 years old, an employee of the Edinet Forestry Enterprise, was detained in flagrante delicto by the officers of the General Territorial Directorate North of the NAC and anticorruption prosecutors after receiving the illicit reward of 550 euros. He is suspected of claiming money from a young man to help him get the category B driving licence.
According to the materials of the case, the suspect would have claimed that he has influence on the examiners from the Registration of Transport Means and Driver’s Qualification Office and that he could have determined them to favor him at theoretical and practical tests in exchange for the amount of 5500 euros and 2000 leis.
A criminal investigation was initiated in this case pursuant art. 326 – influence peddling. Subsequently, the man was documented while he was receiving 2000 leis and, respectively, the last tranche of 550 euros – when he was caught red-handed on the Edineț-Briceni route.
He was detained for 72 hours and if found guilty, he risks a fine of up to 4000 conventional units or imprisonment from 2 to 6 years.
