The NAC and the prosecutors searched the Orhei City Hall in a corruption case: 18 suspected persons, 4 of whom were detained for 72 hours
11.10.2024 79 Views18 civil servants, including the mayor and vice-mayor of Orhei, the chief architect, investigative agents and several district councillors were searched today by the NAC officers in a criminal case based on the fact of passive corruption and violation of the way of managing the financial means of political parties or electoral funds.
According to the investigated facts, several persons with public dignity, civil servants and district councillors, to fulfil their obligations as public servants within the Orhei Municipality City Hall, would have systematically accepted and received monetary means that were not given to them they come from different people including public figures, people with a position of public dignity, as well as from members of an organized criminal group who acted in the interests of a political formation.
At the same time, they would have accepted and received illegal remuneration to support some political formations and persons, participating as organizers and coordinators in various political actions, the actions being executed to the detriment of the principles of good functioning of the local public authority.
Following the criminal prosecution actions carried out by the NAC officers under the procedural leadership of the Chisinau Municipal Prosecutor's Office, 18 people are to be recognized as suspects, of which 4 have been detained and are to be placed in the NAC Detention Centre.
