The integration of the gender dimension in the documents of strategic anti-corruption policies, discussed during an informative session with representatives of public institutions and civil society
07.11.2024 55 ViewsThe importance of integrating the gender dimension in anti-corruption strategic policy documents, planning sensitive to the gender dimension and carrying out transformative activities from a gender perspective were the topics addressed in the informative session, organized in collaboration with the National Anti-corruption Centre, by the Project “Strengthening the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Mechanisms in the Republic of Moldova” co-financed by the European Union, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Government of Great Britain and implemented by the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ).
Representatives of several public institutions, civil society and economic or business sectors have strengthened their knowledge and professional skills in understanding gender issues and their correlation with corruption, the importance of integrating the gender dimension in policy documents and anti-corruption measures of gender-sensitive activities that respond to gender needs.
Present at the event, the head of the General Directorate on Preventing Corruption of the NAC, Lidia Chireoglo, mentioned the importance of the event and emphasized its essential role in supporting collaboration for the implementation of the National Integrity and Anti-Corruption Program for the years 2024-2028, which represents a fundamental strategic framework in the fight against corruption. "This meeting comes to boost the dialogue and cooperation between all the actors responsible for the implementation of the strategic document, thus contributing to its success", declared Chireoglo.
During the session, the international expert on anti-corruption and gender equality, Boris Divjak, and the national expert on public policies and gender equality, Mariana Buruiana, presented case studies to the participants on good practices of gender mainstreaming worldwide, as well as EU conditionality in the fight against corruption, related to the integration of the gender dimension. The interdependence between gender equality and corruption and how corruption affects gender differences in the Republic of Moldova were also addressed and discussed.
The participants of the event emphasized the importance of integrating the gender dimension in public policies in all areas of intervention in the public sector, but also in the private sector, and the event was important for improving practice in this field.
The GIZ project " Strengthening the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Mechanisms in the Republic of Moldova " is financed by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, with the main objective of contributing to the prevention and fight against corruption in the Republic of Moldova.
