About 5,000,000 lei is the amount of fines applied by the NAC for committing the offense of "passive electoral corruption"
08.11.2024 113 ViewsThe National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC) has informed that, until November 8, 2024, it has applied fines in the amount of approximately 5,000,000 lei on the side of the minutes, received from the Police, regarding the finding of the contravention provided by art. 47 first Contravention Code - "passive electoral corruption".
According to the legislation, passive electoral corruption consists in establishing the facts of claiming, accepting or receiving, personally or through an intermediary, by a voter undue goods, services, privileges or advantages in any form, for himself/herself or for another person, for the purpose of exercising or not exercising certain electoral rights during the elections. Thus, for committing this contravention, a fine from 25,000 lei to 37,500 lei is provided.
The NAC continues to examine the minutes received, and will take decisions on them. It should be noted that the person who committed the contravention act is released from contravention liability if he self-reported and/or actively contributed to discovering or countering the commission of the act of electoral corruption.
Article 471 was introduced by Law no. 230 of 31.07.2024 and entered into force on 15.08.2024, and the competence was assigned to the National Anti-corruption Centre.
