A teacher at the Vocational School no. 2 from Cahul was detained by anticorruption officers and prosecutors on suspicion of influence peddling.
According to the whistleblower, the man would have extorted Euro 300 under the pretext to have influence on people in charge from the Department of Transport Registration and Qualification of Drivers from Ceadir-Lunga for qualifying exam and obtaining a driving license.
He would have coordinated his actions with other persons in order to facilitate pass of the written and practical exam and subsequent release of the driving license.
Retention in the act took place across the City Hall of Cahul, the money being handed over voluntarily by the suspect. He was detained for 72 hours.
A criminal investigation was started on this case under art. 326 paragraph (2) letter b) Penal Code. If found guilty, the man faces a prison sentence of 2-6 years or a fine of 3000 to 4000 conventional units
We note that the teacher was been previously convicted for corruption with a fine of MDL 41,000.
Criminal prosecution is conducted by the Anticorruption Prosecutors’ Office.
