An employee of the Balti PGI Judicial Police Service was detained by the NAC GTD North and prosecutors for passive corruption. According to the whistleblower, the police officer claimed 200 euro to expedite search file termination, started on his name in 2016, being investigated for debts.
As the result of criminal prosecution of the NAC, today, the suspect was caught in flagrant, after receiving money, transmitted under the NAC control. Currently, she is in the NAC custody, being detained for 72 hours.
A criminal prosecution has been initiated in this case for the passive corruption, if she is found guilty, the police officer risks imprisonment from 5 to 10 years with a fine ranging from 6 000 to 8 000 conventional units and with privation of the right to hold certain public functions or to exercise certain activities for the period from 7 to 10 years.
We remind, that every person is presumed to be innocent until the final and irrevocable court decision is pronounced.
The Office of the Anticorruption Prosecutor executes the criminal prosecution. The operation of documenting and detaining was supported by the Internal Protection and Anticorruption Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Since the beginning of the year, two police officers have been documented by the NAC for corruption acts.
