NAC-SPIA Operation: two police officers were detained after being denounced by a driver to the national anticorruption line 0 800 55555

Two patrol agents were detained by the NAC officers and the Internal Protection and Anti-corruption Service of MIA (SPIA), in a case of passive corruption. The case was submitted on Sunday by a driver to the national anticorruption line 0 800 55555 of the NAC.

According to the statement of the driver, the police officers, being in the exercise of their duties, would have claimed financial means in the amount of 200 euro, for not drawing up a protocol and not taking the means of transport to a special car parking.

In this case, a criminal investigation was initiated pursuant to art. 324 - passive corruption. If found guilty, police officers risk from 5 to 10 years of imprisonment with a fine from 6000 to 8000 conventional units and deprivation of the right to hold certain public functions or to exercise certain activity for a period of 7 to 10 years.

The suspects are detained for 72 hours. We remind that every person is presumed to be innocent until the final and irrevocable decision of the court is pronounced.

We specify that 7 police officers have come to the attention of the NAC since the beginning of the year being suspected for committing different facts of corruption.

The Office of Anticorruption Prosecutor carries out the criminal investigation.
