The administrator of a block of flats in the Botanica sector of the capital was detained in flagrante delicto by the NAC officers and anticorruption prosecutors while receiving a bribe of 24 000 euros from the representative of an economic agent. According to the whistleblower, the money was allegedly demanded for the signature on the act of the final acceptance of the works of mansards and the building reparation.

In fact, the suspect would have claimed from the economic agent an apartment, on the mansards, or its equivalent in money in exchange for his signature on the protocol of final acceptance of construction works. He would have put the condition to the whistleblower that he would not sign the documents until he got 24 000 euros – the market price of the newly constructed real estate.

A criminal investigation was initiated in this case, the NAC officers received the support of the Internal Protection and Anticorruption Directorate of the MIA, as the suspect is an ex-police officer. The detention took place in the administrator’s office. The money was voluntarily handed over to the summons of anticorruption prosecutors and the NAC officers.

Currently, the man is in the NAC custody for 72 hours and is being investigated for bribery. If found guilty, he risks a fine from 4350 to 6350 of conventional units or imprisonment from 3 to 10 years, in both cases with the deprivation of the right to hold certain functions or to exercise certain activity for the term from 5 to 7 years.

We remind that every person is presumed to be innocent until the final and irrevocable decision of the court is pronounced.

The Office of Anticorruption Prosecutor is conducting the criminal investigation.
