A member of the Police Association „Shield of Justice” from Ialoveni was detained by the NAC officers and anticorruption prosecutors in a case of influence peddling. He allegedly promised to help another man obtain custody and establish paternity of a minor, born in the cohabitation with the mother of the child, who is not divorced from her first husband.  

According to the materials of the case, the suspect would have claimed that had influence on some public persons from the Ialoveni General Directorate of the Social Assistance and Family Protection and the Civil Status Service of the Public Services Agency and that he could determine them to adopt a favorable decision in the case of the biological father of the minor. For his services, the suspect would have claimed a bribe in the amount of 500 euros that he received in three tranches: 100, 200 and 200 euros respectively, being documented while receiving the last tranche of money by the NAC officers. The suspect did not act alone; he worked with his accomplice who also has the status of the suspect in this case.

A criminal investigation was initiated in this case for influence peddling, and the suspect was detained and placed in the detention center of the NAC for 72 hours. If found guilty, he risks up to 6 years of prison.

We remind that every person is presumed to be innocent until the final and irrevocable decision of the court is pronounced.
