The Criminal Assets Recovery Agency (CARA) of the NAC has announced the seizure of assets worth over 18 million lei during last week. It is about the assets of illegal origin that were seized within five criminal cases, initiated for passive and active corruption, scam, influence peddling and abuse of power.

Thus, within the parallel financial investigations, the CARA has seized assets worth 820 thousand lei, 2 share capital worth 125 thousand lei, a residential construction, valued at 1 million 420 thousand lei , 15 non-residential constructions, estimated at 6 million lei, 8 non-residential entities worth 5 million 594 lei, 7 construction lands and an agricultural land worth over 3 million lei and 1 million 371 thousand lei in cash. The total amount of the seized assets exceeds 18 million lei.

We remind, that during the first month of this year, the Criminal Assets Recovery Agency seized assets, illegally obtained, in the amount of over 35 million lei, while in 2020, their amount reached 1,5 billion lei.

The Criminal Assets Recovery Agency is an autonomous subdivision of the National Anticorruption Center, specialized in carrying out parallel financial investigations, freezing criminal assets, evaluating, managing and estimating the value of seized criminal assets.
