A high-level adviser of the European Union Delegation to the Republic of Moldova has begun his mission at the Criminal Assets Recovery Agency under the National Anticorruption Center. The expert shall assist the employees of the Agency and provide consultancy in recovery, management and estimating the value of criminal assets.

Today, the personnel of the CARA had a work meeting with a high-level advisor, Oscar Rivera Rivera, (http://eu-advisers.md/advisers/oscar-rivera-rivera.html) during which they thanked the Mission of High-Level Advisors of the EU to the Republic of Moldova for the provided support throughout the entire period of the activity of the Agency. In this context, the management of the CARA presented an extended report on the ongoing work processes, as well as the action and development plans for the next period.

In his turn, the high-level advisor expressed his interest towards the activity of the Agency, as well as the evolution of the implementation of the Register of Seized Criminal Assets. The expert mentioned that he is open to cooperate and provide support in growing institutional capacity of the Agency in the field of criminal assets recovery.

To be mentioned that the Criminal Assets Recovery Agency is an autonomous subdivision under the National Anticorruption Center, specialized in conducting parallel financial investigations, seizing criminal assets, evaluating, managing and estimating the value of seized criminal assets. During 2020, the CARA seized assets, illegally obtained, worth approximately 1,5 billion lei.
