High-level visit to the NAC. The head of the Secretariat of the Regional Anti-Corruption Initiative has met with the NAC director, in Chisinau, in the first official visit

The head of the Secretariat of the Regional Anti-Corruption Initiative (RAI), Desislava Gotskova, has met with the NAC director, Ruslan Flocea, in Chişinău. The official is in her first visit to the country member of the RAI, after being elected for the office.

At the meeting, Desislava Gotskova appreciated the collaboration of the National Anticorruption Center within the RAI and mentioned that the institution which she represents is interested in further cooperation with the NAC in joint projects. She also added that, for 2021, RAI has initiated several regional projects, including for the Republic of Moldova, among which are the projects that are aimed at strengthening regional cooperation on assets declaration, consolidating integrity through transparent rules and procedures in the public sector, whistleblowing – raising awareness of the public and strengthening national capacities and regional cooperation in the field of assets recovery.  

The director of the NAC, Ruslan Flocea, thanked the partners for the permanent support, offered to the institution and openness for the implementation of some projects on corruption prevention. ”For years, the Regional Anti-Corruption Initiative has been near the National Anticorruption Center, supporting our initiatives and the expertise that it has shared with us. We are grateful for the RAI expertise in two important projects, developed by the NAC, as Methodology of identifying corruption risks within public entities, identifying public agents exposed to these risks and analyzing the risk factors that generate them and Methodology of carrying out anticorruption expertise of the draft legislative and normative acts”, said head of the NAC.

As well, for more than 13 years, the National Anticorruption Center has taken part in multiple conferences and workshops to exchange best practices, organized by the RAI in different countries of the world. Among the events, which were attended by the Republic of Moldova, are the Regional Workshop “Strengthening integrity in the security sector”, courses “Efficient recovery of criminal assets – legal standards, challenges and good practices”, “Creating effective protection for whistle-blowers in benefit of citizens, in accordance with the EU Whistleblowing Directive”, “Experiences of public institutions and civil society in managing disclosures of illegal practices: solutions to improve mutual cooperation and coordination”, and others.

The Regional Anti-Corruption Initiative (RAI) is a regional intergovernmental organization, that deals with the anticorruption issues, covering 9 Member States: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Moldova, Montenegro, Northern Macedonia, Romania and Serbia.
