Ten persons of fourteen, detained yesterday by the NAC and prosecutors in a number of corruption cases for involvement in the criminal scheme of issuing cadastral documents, plead guilty. They are collaborating with interrogators and will be investigated at large. Other four persons are currently in the NAC Detention Center. They will be heard during the day by the prosecutors and then the decision will be taken on whether requesting the arrest warrants or not. The organizer of the scheme is among them.
We remind, that on December 20, fourteen persons were detained for active, passive corruption and influence peddling. These are real estate and mortgage brokers and employees of the Public Services Agency (PSA), natural and legal persons who, in collusion with a former real estate agent, facilitated the obtaining of cadastral documents. Following the criminal prosecution actions, the NAC officers and prosecutors seized drafts, documents, mobile telephones and other information carriers, that will be analyzed. Also, the financial means were found, the largest amount of cash is 10 thousand euros.
At this stage, several hundred of episodes are being investigated, in which the organizer of the scheme facilitated the issuance of the permissive acts of sale and purchase of real estate, avoiding the legal appointment scheduling procedure and asking for illegal payments for corrupting employees of the PSA.
Eleven cases, connected in a joint procedure, are being managed by the NAC officers, while the Anticorruption Prosecution Office is conducting the criminal investigation. We remind, every person is presumed to be innocent until the final and irrevocable decision of the case is pronounced.
