Two patrol police officers of the National Public Security Inspectorate are investigated by the officers of the General Territorial Directorate North of the NAC and anti-corruption prosecutors, being suspected for passive corruption. They allegedly demanded a bribe not to document drink driving.

According to the whistleblower, a few days ago, he was stopped by two patrol police officers who, following the blood alcohol test, found that the driver was drunk at the wheel. In order not to register the case in accordance with the legal provisions, the police allegedly demanded from him 3000 lei. Later, one of the policemen would have suggested to the whistleblower to send the money through an employee of a gas station in Balti.

The officers of the GTD North of the NAC and the anti-corruption prosecutors from the North Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office initiated a criminal investigation for passive corruption. Thus, under the control of the NAC and the AP, the money was sent to the intermediary who, at the request of the investigators, voluntarily handed over the amount sent. At the scene, one of the policemen was also detained for 72 hours, the other being investigated at large.

The North Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office is conducting the criminal investigation in this case.

We remind, that every person is presumed to be innocent until the final and irrevocable court decision is pronounced.
