The agenda of the annual conference of practitioners in the field of anti-corruption from the member states of the Council of Europe and the EU member states was discussed by the director of the NAC, Iulian Rusu, with the representatives of the Steering Committee of the Network of European Partners against Corruption (EPAC) and European contact-point network against corruption (EACN), during a working session. At the meeting, the participants agreed on the main topics to be discussed at the Conference. Among these are investigation of high level corruption cases, international cooperation and the criminal assets recovery.

The director of the NAC emphasized that the event, planned for the end of November, is an important platform for the exchange of information and expertise regarding the developments of anti-corruption investigations. "The consolidation of international collaboration mechanisms is a priority within this conference. To facilitate the criminal assets recovery, we need to establish close contacts with all the actors involved. Thanks to this platform, we will be able to intensify the process of assets recovery, including those located in jurisdictions abroad", said Iulian Rusu.

Zydrūnas Bartkus, President of the EPAC/EACN Steering Committee and Director of the Special Investigation Service of Lithuania, suggested that the speakers at the Conference should come up with real examples of investigating high-level corruption and communicate the results of these investigations. He also highlighted the importance of international cooperation among EPAC/EACN members and the improvement of information exchange networks to reach a better level of understanding.

The participants of the meeting agreed to come to the Conference with the proposal to establish a group of EPAC/EACN representatives to apply for joint EU projects, thus supporting the development and promotion of common working standards.

We note, that EPAC (European Partners against Corruption) includes over 70 anti-corruption authorities and police oversight bodies from the member countries of the Council of Europe, and EACN (European contact-point network against corruption) brings together over 50 anti-corruption institutions from the member states of the European Union, having a significant contribution in the joint efforts undertaken by the member states aimed to reduce and stop the phenomenon of corruption. In 2022, EPAC/EACN chose to organize the event in Chisinau, in 2021 it took place in Vilnius, Lithuania, and in 2019 in Stockholm, Sweden.
