A police officer from the General Police Inspectorate was detained, today, in an influence peddling case, by the General Territorial Directorate North of the NAC and the prosecutors of the North Office of the Anticorruption Prosecution. The policeman is suspected of having accepted 2,500 euros from a woman to influence the cover-up of a case in which she would have been a suspect.

According to the accumulated materials, the police officer allegedly made promises that he could influence public figures from the Rîșcani Police Inspectorate, as well as prosecutors, who are managing the case, to stop the criminal prosecution of the woman. The man of law would have claimed and received the sum of 2500 euros in exchange for influencing the responsible persons.

Today, the GTD Nord officers and anti-corruption prosecutors searched the suspect's personal car and home, where financial means and information carriers were seized. Following the prosecution, the police officer was detained and placed in the NAC Detention Center for 72 hours.

The North Office of the Anticorruption Prosecution is conducting the criminal investigation.
