Lawyer, caught red-handed by the NAC. He claimed 5,500 euros to influence a judge from Drochia

A lawyer was detained, a short time ago, by the officers of the General Territorial Directorate North of the NAC and the prosecutors of the Northern Office of the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office, in an influence peddling case. The man allegedly claimed and received 5,500 euros from a citizen, to influence a decision in the case in which his client was accused of theft.

According to the whistleblower, the lawyer allegedly claimed that he would have influence over a judge from the Drochia Court, the centre headquarters, and that he could induce her to judge the criminal case of his client, so that it would end with acquittal.

In this case, a criminal file was initiated for influence peddling, and the lawyer received, under the control of the GTD North of the NAC and the prosecutors, the sum of 5500 euros, in two installments. Today, following the delivery of the second installment, the lawyer was detained, the money being found in the coat's pocket.

Currently, searches are being carried out in the lawyer's office in Bălţi, in his car and at home. The lawman was detained for 72 hours.

The Northern Office of the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office is conducting the criminal investigation.
