NAC director had several bilateral meetings with the representatives of Eurojust and Europol, in The Hague

The director of the National Anticorruption Center, Iulian Rusu, had several bilateral meetings with European Union officials, during his visit to The Hague, the Kingdom of the Netherlands. On November 29, Iulian Rusu met with the deputy director of Eurojust, Margarita Sniutyte, with prosecutors from several European Union countries and with the deputy executive director of Europol, Jean-Philippe Lecouffe.

The discussions focused on the collaboration in the high corruption cases, instrumented by the authorities of the Republic of Moldova and the possibilities of collaboration on aspects related to the criminal assets recovery, located in jurisdictions outside the country. Opportunities for operational exchange of data, information and best practices were also discussed.

Iulian Rusu: "I had substantial discussions with the deputy director of Eurojust, Margarita Sniutyte, and with Mr. Jean-Philippe Lecouffe, the deputy executive director of Europol. We discussed opportunities for collaboration and received assurances to be provided with practical tools and intellectual products to help us move forward in grand corruption cases, especially those of a transnational nature. Our partners have expressed their willingness to provide us with operational support and in the process of tracing illicit assets with a view to their confiscation and repatriation".

We remind you that the director of the NAC, Iulian Rusu, participated, on November 28-29, in the World Anti-Corruption Forum and the high-level Round Table, held under the auspices of the governments of Canada, Ecuador and the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The main objective of the meetings in The Hague is to increase the efficiency of the institutions that fight against corruption.
