CARA seized assets worth about 86 million lei in the file of purchasing passport application forms

The Criminal Assets Recovery Agency (CARA) of the NAC seized assets of over 86 million lei, based on the delegations of prosecutors, last week, in the file of the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office regarding the purchase of passport application forms. The seizures target the assets of the individual investigated in this case. 56 seized assets include: 7 social capitals, 2 residential and one non-residential premises, 15 means of transport, 6 agricultural lands and 5 for constructions, 2 residential constructions and 15 non-residential, as well as 3 bank accounts. Currently, the CARA has 175 delegations under examination, in 125 criminal cases, regarding 285 subjects. Also, 213 000 lei were transferred to the treasury accounts of the Agency.

Also, the General Directorate on Operative Support carried out 4 judicial expertises, 2 forensic and 2 IT, 66 expertises are in the process. The NAC prosecution officers have in procedure 336 criminal cases

The Legislation and Anticorruption Expertise Directorate received 18 draft normative acts for expertise, sent to the authors 12 expert reports and 7 opinions. At the moment, we are working on 34 materials, received from the authorities.

The Analytical Directorate has carried out 5 operational analyses and initiated 3 new ones, other 47 studies are in the process. The representative of the Legal Service of the NAC participated in 11 court hearings, and the Professional Integrity Testing Directorate issued 138 integrity records.

The Anticorruption Education Directorate carried out 4 activities of information and raising awareness, organizing interactive lessons with 1200 young people, within the play ”Mr. Makabet’s Choice”, at Mihai Eminescu National Theatre. 

The National Anti-Corruption Line received 54 calls. 18 individuals are placed in penitentiaries, arrested in the NAC cases.
