1006 Views The Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office announces the completion of the criminal investigation and referral to the court for substantive examination of the criminal case accusing a man from Chisinau of committing influence peddling crimes (art. 326 para. (1) of the Criminal Code).
According to the investigations, during the years 2018 - 2022, the man, acting with direct intentions, out of material interest and to favor a couple from the municipality of Chisinau, to use and hold, by them, the right of ownership of real estate, located in municipality of Chisinau, as well as their family members, claimed that he had influence over public persons in state public institutions, whom he could influence to carry out actions in the exercise of his position or contrary to it. For these acts, the man claimed and received money and other assets that are not his, in the total amount of over 130,000 MDL lei.
Complete documentation of all aspects of the criminal acts investigated in the case was made possible and was achieved with the direct support of the National Anti-Corruption Center.
For the crimes committed, the law provides for punishment in the form of a fine ranging from 100,000 to 150,000 lei or up to 6 years in prison.
Note: A person accused of committing a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a final court decision.
