The Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office has announced the completion of the criminal investigation and referral to the court for substantive examination, of the criminal case accusing an employee of the Public Services Agency, being charged with the crime of influence peddling (art. 326 para. (1) from the Criminal Code).

The criminal case was initiated in November 2022, by the criminal investigation body of the National Anticorruption Center, based on the complaint of a citizen, according to which the accused, knowing about the complainant's difficulties in registering the annex built to his building in the absence of permissive documents, claimed, accepted and received the sum of 2,000 euros, claiming that he has influence over public persons within the Public Services Agency responsible for the examination and registration of real estate and the right to them.

In exchange for the 2,000 euros, the accused claimed that he could get them to register the annex built to the aforementioned real estate, but he did not subsequently achieve the claimed influence.

The accused did not admit his guilt, and the criminal case was sent for substantive examination in the Chisinau Court, Buiucani headquarters.

For the committed crime (art. 326 para. (1) of the Criminal Code), the law provides for the maximum punishment in the form of a fine in the amount of 100,000 to 150,000 lei or imprisonment of up to 6 years.

Note: Every person accused of committing a crime is presumed to be innocent until proven guilty by a final court decision.
