Eight searches were carried out today, in Edineț, by the officers of the General Territorial Directorate North (GTD) of the NAC and the prosecutors from the Northern Office of the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office, in the framework of six new criminal cases aimed at the bribery charged when issuing driving licenses. In the present cases, there are six natural persons, suspected of having intermediated the receipt and transmission of financial means to those in charge of the Transport Registration and Driver Qualification Office (TRDQO) of Edineț.

Thus, as part of the criminal investigation actions, carried out today at the homes and in the cars of the suspects, draft documents with the identity data of the candidates, schooling certificates and financial means were taken, which were voluntarily handed over to the NAC officers. At the moment, all persons are cooperating with the criminal investigation body, being investigated at large.

We remind that, currently, the officers of the GTD North of the NAC and the prosecutors of the Northern Office of the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office are managing 12 criminal cases, started on acts of corruption committed by employees of the TRDQO Edineț of the Public Services Agency. Several officials and intermediate persons from the north of the country are being investigated for the implementation of a scheme to claim illicit financial means from people applying for driving licenses.

According to the evidence administered by the NAC and the prosecutors, the employees of the TRDQO Edineț allegedly extorted from the candidates for obtaining driving licenses, who did not take the practical test of the qualification exam, undue money in amounts ranging from 500 to 1000 euros. The sums were charged to favor the candidates for the exams, by applying the qualification "admitted", with the subsequent issuance of the driver's license.

The Northern Office of the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office is conducting the criminal investigation.
