The Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office has announced the completion of the criminal investigation and submission to the court for examination of the criminal case accusing a head of section within SRL "Chișinău-Gaz", being charged with the crime of bribery (art. 333 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code).

The criminal investigation was started in May 2023, by the National Anticorruption Center based on a whistleblowing.

According to the whistleblower and the results of the criminal investigation, it was established that the accused, this May, claimed and received, from a resident of the municipality of Chisinau, monetary means in the amount of 5,000 euros, not to carry out actions in the exercise his duties of ascertaining and documenting the consumption of natural gas through the unauthorized connection to the natural gas network. This fact was reported to the National Anticorruption Line of the NAC by the consumer.

The accused fully admitted his guilt, and the criminal case was sent for examination to the Chisinau Court, Buiucani headquarters.

For the crime committed, the law provides for the punishment in the form of a fine ranging from 67,500 to 167,500 lei or imprisonment of up to 3 years, in both cases with the deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or to exercise a certain activity for the term from 2 to 5 years.

Note: A person accused of committing a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a final court decision.
