A former head of the State Energy Inspectorate was sent to court for exceeding his duties

The Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office has announced the completion of the criminal investigation and the referral to the court for examination of the criminal case accusing the former head of the State Energy Inspectorate, being charged with the crime of exceeding the duties of office (art. 328 para. (1) of the Criminal Code).

The criminal investigation was started by the National Anticorruption Center based on the notification of the National Integrity Authority.

During the criminal investigation, it was established that the accused, working as the head of the State Energy Inspectorate, signed 21 administrative acts regarding his own person in situations of conflict of interest, granting himself prizes in violation of legal norms and contractual clauses, material aid and salary increases, causing considerable damage in the total amount of 81744.5 lei.

The accused did not admit his guilt, and the criminal case was sent for examination to the Chisinau Court, Buiucani headquarters.

For the crime committed, the law provides for a fine ranging from 32,500 to 57,500 lei or imprisonment of up to 3 years, in both cases with the deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or to exercise a certain activity for a term from 2 to 5 years.

Note: A person accused of committing a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a final court decision.
