CARA issued seizure orders for assets of over 10 million lei and freezing orders for 19 bank accounts and 2 automobiles

The Criminal Assets Recovery Agency (CARA) of the NAC issued seizure orders, based on the delegation of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office and Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS), for 12 assets, worth over 10 million lei, last week. These include 3 means of transport, 4 agricultural lands and 2 construction lands, 2 dwellings, a non-residential construction. 6 freezing orders were issued for 19 bank accounts. Also, the court confirmed the seizures of assets, worth over 12,6 million lei, applied by the Criminal Assets Recovery Agency of the NAC. Currently, the CARA has 122 delegations under examination in 89 criminal cases on 195 subjects.

Also, the General Directorate on Operative Support carried out 5 judicial expertises, 3 of which are IT, 1 in construction, and 1 accounting expertise, 67 expertises are in the process. Criminal investigation officers started 2 criminal cases and proposed 3 criminal cases to be transmitted to trial. Currently, the criminal investigation body of the NAC is managing 365 files.

The Legislation and Anticorruption Expertise Directorate received 27 draft normative acts for expertise, sent to the authors 24 expert reports and 13 opinions. Currently, we are working on 36 materials, received from the authorities.

The Analytical Directorate has carried out 7 operational analyses, other 66 studies are in the process. The representative of the Legal Service of the NAC participated in 20 court hearings, while the Professional Integrity Testing Directorate issued 144 criminal records.

The Anticorruption Education Directorate carried out 11 activities of information and raising awareness.

The National Anti-Corruption Line received 38 calls.

1324 materials were registered in the Chancellery of the NAC.
