CARA of the NAC seized assets of about 3 million lei and transferred to treasury accounts 8 million lei last week

The Criminal Assets Recovery Agency (CARA) of the NAC seized assets, worth about 3 million lei, last week based on the delegation of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office and Customs Service, for 9 assets. These include a dwelling, a construction land and 7 social capitals, seized in the cases of the abuse of office, money laundering and smuggling. A luxury car, manufactured in 2021, has been taken into administration, and the CARA will begin the procedure for its early capitalization. Currently, the CARA has 118 delegations under examination in 86 criminal cases on 180 subjects. Last week, 8 million lei were transferred to treasury accounts of the CARA.

Also, the General Directorate on Operative Support carried out 8 judicial expertises, 7 of which are IT, and 1 forensic, 60 expertises are in the process. Criminal investigation officers started 2 criminal cases and proposed 4 criminal cases to be transmitted to trial. Currently, the criminal investigation body of the NAC is managing 365 files.

The Legislation and Anticorruption Expertise Directorate received 43 draft normative acts for expertise, sent to the authors 18 expert reports and 17 opinions. Currently, we are working on 51 materials, received from the authorities.

The Analytical Directorate has carried out 5 operational and 1 strategic analyses, other 59 studies are in the process. The Professional Integrity Testing Directorate issued 105 criminal records.

The Anticorruption Education Directorate carried out 13 activities of information and raising awareness.

The National Anti-Corruption Line received 38 calls. One person is in Penitentiary 13, arrested in the NAC case.
