The accomplice of the Ukrainian citizen, who in 2022 tried to bribe a border policeman to get a minor without identity documents out of the country, was detained

The accomplice of the citizen of Ukraine who, in December 2022, was detained by the officers of the General Territorial Directorate North of the NAC and the anti-corruption prosecutors for attempting to bribe a border police officer with the aim of taking a minor out of the country without identity documents, was detained. This is a woman from Briceni who was identified as one of the people who would have held talks with the Ukrainian citizen and would have offered her 500 dollars to bribe the employee of the General Inspectorate of the Border Police. The woman is currently being detained for 72 hours and is under criminal investigation for active corruption.

We remind you that, on December 29, 2022, the officers of the GTD North of the NAC, together with the Northern Office of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office and the General Inspectorate of the Border Police, stopped an attempt to illegally take a minor without identity documents out of the country, through attempted bribery of a border policeman. The case was reported to the NAC by the border policeman, and based on the information from the GIBP, a criminal case for active corruption was initiated.

According to the materials of the case, a citizen of Ukraine allegedly offered the employee of the Border Police 500 dollars, which she was going to send to him through the child's companion. In exchange for this amount, the border policeman would have been asked to ensure the minor's unimpeded passage through the Criva-Mămăliga state border crossing point.

Following the criminal investigation and special investigative measures, under the control of the employees of the  GTD North of the NAC, of the anti-corruption prosecutors and the representatives of the North Regional Directorate of the GIBP, it was possible to document the transfer of the money and the minor, who was going to cross illegally state border. As a result, the citizen of Ukraine was detained for 72 hours.

Later, on April 19, 2023, the Edineț Court, the Central Headquarters pronounced the sentence in the criminal case, referred to the justice by the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office, Northern Office, which concerned the actions of the citizen of Ukraine, accused of active corruption. The trial of the case lasted 3 months, the defendant admitting her guilt during the judicial investigation.

The court found the defendant guilty of committing active corruption, sentencing her to prison for a term of 3 years, with execution in a women's penitentiary and a fine of 200,000 lei. At the same time, the confiscation of $500 and an iPhone 8 mobile phone was ordered from the person's account for the benefit of the state.
