CARA seized assets of over 3 million lei and took into administration a luxury car of about 2.7 million lei

The Criminal Assets Recovery Agency (CARA) of the NAC seized assets, worth over 3 million lei, last week based on the delegation of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office and Customs Service. These include 4 means of transport, 2 cash accounts and other assets, seized in the cases of the abuse of office, money laundering and smuggling. Also, 40 000 lei and a luxury car of about 2.7 million lei were taken into the administration. Currently, the Criminal Assets Recovery Agency has 107 delegations under examination in 86 criminal cases on 183subjects.

Also, the General Directorate on Operative Support carried out 9 judicial expertises, 5 of which are IT, and 3 forensic and valuation of a real estate, 57 expertises are in the process. Criminal investigation officers started 2 criminal cases and proposed 3 criminal cases to be transmitted to trial. Currently, the criminal investigation body of the NAC is managing 362 files.

The Legislation and Anticorruption Expertise Directorate received 27 draft normative acts for expertise, sent to the authors 20 expert reports and 12 opinions. Currently, we are working 43 materials, received from the authorities.

The Analytical Directorate has carried out 6 operational and initiated 41, other 93 studies are in the process. The Professional Integrity Testing Directorate issued 95 criminal records.

The Anticorruption Education Directorate carried out 8 activities of information and raising awareness.

The National Anti-Corruption Line received 44 calls. 1060 materials were registered in the Chancellery of the NAC. 2 persons are in the Penitentiaries, arrested in the NAC cases.
