A man from Chisinau, investigated in several episodes of influence peddling

A man from Chisinau was detained, for 72 hours, by the NAC officers and anti-corruption prosecutors, in a case of influence peddling, which includes several episodes. The suspect was caught red-handed when receiving 8,000 euros from the whistleblower.

According to the case materials, in the first episode, the suspect claimed, accepted and received 5,000 euros from a woman to expedite the resolution of the request to regain Romanian citizenship. He would have claimed that he had influence over some public figures from the Republic of Moldova and from Romania, responsible for the reacquisition of the Romanian citizenship.

In another case, finding out from discussions with a man that a woman had been placed in pre-trial detention, he would have claimed that he had influence over persons of public dignity within law enforcement bodies whom he could induce to apply a non-custodial measure. Later, the suspect, claiming that he was the one who would have influenced the application of the non-custodial measure regarding the person in question, would have asked for 35,000 euros.

Thus, under the control of the NAC officers, the first tranche worth 8,000 euros was sent. The man was detained for 72 hours and placed in the NAC Detention Center.

At the same time, in order to accumulate evidence, two searches were carried out at the residence and the means of transport used by the suspect, and cash in the amount of 9,200 euros and 1,400 dollars, 2 mobile phones, a notebook with draft documents, an identity card with obvious signs of forgery.
