The head of the patrol service within the Criuleni Police Inspectorate and one of his subordinates were caught red-handed by the NAC officers and prosecutors from the Chisinau Municipal Prosecutor's Office, being suspected of passive corruption. They allegedly demanded a bribe from a moped (scooter) driver not to document an alleged case of driving the means of transport without a technical inspection report, but also alleged drink-driving.

According to the case materials, yesterday evening, the moped driver was stopped by the police crew from the Criuleni Police Inspectorate. The police officers, identifying the alleged lack of the technical verification report of the means of transport, claimed, accepted and received under the control of the NAC officers, undue cash in the amount of 5000 lei for not performing actions in the exercise of their function.

To accumulate evidence, a search was carried out in the service car, where the cash in the amount of 5,000 lei was found.

The two suspects were detained for 72 hours and were placed in the NAC Detention Center. Currently, criminal prosecution actions are taking place, under the procedural leadership of the Chisinau Municipal Prosecutor's Office.
