A man from the capital was sent by the prosecutors to the court being investigated by the NAC in a fraud case. He promised a person that he could influence the decision on a criminal case and that he could get public figures to issue a favorable ruling. The criminal prosecution of the case was started in February 2023, by the criminal investigation body of the National Anticorruption Center, based on a whistleblowing.

As a result of the criminal investigation, it was found that, between December 13, 2021 and November 16, 2022, the defendant, abusing the trust he had from a person with whom he was on friendly terms, claimed the sum of 25 thousand of euros, receiving in several installments 19 thousand euros, by misleading that, through a policeman, who in fact was not aware of the case, he could influence persons with public dignity, including judges, to issue a decision favorable to him, in the criminal case pending at the Balti Court of Appeal.

The accused did not admit his guilt.

If he is found guilty of committing the incriminated crime, the defendant risks a prison sentence of 7 to 10 years, with the deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or exercise a certain activity for a period of up to 5 years.

To recover the damage caused by the crime, seizure was applied on ½ of the real estate worth 1,283,842 lei, which belongs to the defendant by right of ownership.

Note: A person accused of committing a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a final court decision.
