Head ofDepartment for examination and vehicle transport evidence from Ungheni and one of his subordinate were detained by NAC being suspected for passive corruption.

In fact, the inspector is suspected of having extorted from a citizen Euro 200 to “issue” category B driving license. According to the denouncer, the inspector would have assured that the money would be passed to his boss.

The inspector was caught red-handed by NACofficers upon receiving the money. Thus, a criminal case was started under art. 324 Criminal Code - passive corruption.

If found guilty, the suspects could face from 5 to 10 years imprisonment with a fine of 1000 to 3000 conventional units with the deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or to practice certain activities for a period of 2 to 5 years.
