On March 20, 2024, a man from the capital was detained by the officers of the National Anti-corruption Centre in an influence peddling case, under the procedural management of the Balti Municipal Prosecutor's Office, after being denounced by the inspectors of the National Auto Transport Agency (ANTA). He is accused of having promised a Turkish citizen to help him obtain an ADR-type professional training certificate for a sum of 1700 lei.

According to the administered evidence, the accused would have claimed that he would have influence on some officials from the National Transport Auto Agency (ANTA) and that he could induce them to complete the respective certificate without completing the mandatory professional training course. Thus, the accused would have requested and received financial means in the amount of 1700 lei by transfer from his wife to the Turkish citizen.

On March 20, 2024, the defendant's home and car were searched, and he was detained. Yesterday, March 21, 2024, the prosecutors of the Balti Municipal Prosecutor's Office submitted a request to apply the preventive measure - preventive arrest for a period of 30 days regarding the accused.

We remind that the accused benefits from the presumption of innocence, according to the law.

We will come back with details.
