A man from Chisinau is being investigated by the NAC officers, being suspected of complicity in passive corruption. He allegedly demanded a bribe from another man to help him cover up an alleged case of driving without a driver's license.

According to the case materials, the suspect would have extorted 850 euros from the whistleblower to transmit them to the employees of the Central Patrol Directorate of the National Public Security Inspectorate of the GPI not to document the contravention case regarding driving without a license.

In order to accumulate evidence, searches were carried out at the suspect's residence, after which a mobile phone was recovered with conclusive evidence for the criminal investigation. The man is being investigated while at liberty.

Any person is presumed innocent until a final and irrevocable court decision is rendered. The Balti Municipality Prosecutor's Office ensures the management of criminal investigation actions.
