Six people, including 3 members of the Medical Commission of vehicle drivers from Ialoveni town under investigation by the NAC for acts of corruption

The chairman of the Medical Commission of Drivers of Ialoveni, the secretary of the commission, a psychiatrist and three intermediaries are under investigation by the NAC and the prosecutor's office for systemic corruption. According to the facts investigated, members of the Commission are suspected of systematically receiving undue money from various individuals in exchange for facilitating the issuance of medical certificates to vehicle drivers and a candidate for a driver’s license without undergoing a medical examination.

As a result, from March to May 2024, more than 40 cases of receipt of financial means by members of the Medical Commission were documented, the amounts ranged from 300 to 800 lei per certificate.

On the morning of May 20, 2024, the NAC employees conducted 12 searches, as a result of which the secretary of the medical commission was detained for 72 hours and had to be placed in the NAC Detention Centre. Five more people will be identified and questioned as suspects and investigated at large.

The criminal investigation in this case continues under the procedural direction of the Chisinau Municipal Prosecutor's Office.

We clarify that every person shall be considered innocent until a final and irrevocable court decision is made.
