The National Anti-corruption Centre, the legal successor of the Centre for Combating Economic Crimes and Corruption, today is celebrating the 22nd anniversary since its creation on June 6, 2002. On this occasion, several employees received state awards and diplomas, but also institutional mentions for outstanding results in the activity of preventing and fighting corruption.

In his speech, the director of the NAC, Alexandr Pînzari, specified that the institution has an enormous responsibility to society, which it must protect from harmful elements and risks that may threaten the safety of citizens. According to the head of the NAC, the institution has the necessary capacities and potential to be able to carry out this mission, and during 22 years it has demonstrated through facts that the Centre's staff is professional and dedicated to the job.

Alexandr Pînzari: "We have an extremely important and complicated mission to accomplish. Corruption has been declared a threat to state security. That is why the fight against this phenomenon is a great responsibility of the National Anti-corruption Centre. The present and future of our society depends on our capabilities and dedication. In the last two years, our country is going through a difficult period, having a war on the border. This misfortune of our neighbours has also opened the door to a series of crimes involving dirty money flows, financial schemes and attempts to influence some trials. The new powers assigned to the National Anti-corruption Centre have given us more possibilities to document such crimes. We have complex cases in which we managed to counter attempts to introduce millions of lei into the country and block the illegal use of this money. I urge you to be as vigilant and work as professionally in this direction."

Present at the event, the President of the Parliament, Igor Grosu, addressed a message to the NAC staff: "I urge you to be even more determined in the fight against big corruption, because the people I talk to every day want justice and finality on big cases. I assure you that you have the support of the Parliament to carry on, with tenacity and pride, the duties of service in the interest of the state and for the benefit of the people".

Congratulatory messages on the occasion of the anniversary of the NAC were sent by the Prosecutor General, Ion Munteanu, the President of the Security and Public Order Parliamentary Commission, Lilian Carp and the head of the Trade Unions, Angela Otean. During the festive event, several employees were mentioned with awards and diplomas offered by the Presidency, the Parliament and the Government.
