A man from Cantemir was detained, this morning, by the officers of the General Territorial Directorate South of the NAC and anticorruption prosecutors in a case of influence peddling. He is suspected of promising another man help in receiving a B-category driving license.
According to the information, he allegedly claimed from the whistleblower 800 euros to help him obtain a B-category driving license, claiming that he had influence on some officials from the Office of the Registration of Transport Means and Drivers’ Qualification in Cahul. To strengthen the evidence, the officers of the GTD South searched the suspect’s domicile.
Within the criminal investigation actions, the money was found in the suspect’s house, in a book, as well as the amount of 9140 euros, the origin of the money is to be determined. The man was apprehended by the officers of the GTD South of the NAC and placed in the detention center for 72 hours. A criminal investigation on influence peddling was initiated in this case, he risks from 2 to 7 years in prison or a criminal fine.
