Two police officers and a citizen of Syria, held by NAC and anticorruption prosecutors
17.08.2013 3000 ViewsTwo employees ofthe Ministry of Domestic Affaires and a citizen of Syria were detained by officers of NAC.
The three are suspected to have extorted MDL 5,300 and Euro 400 from a Syrian in order not to attract criminal liability for illegal drug consumption and traffic.
Arrest occurred in a bar in the capital last night and part of the money extorted was found in the pocket of citizen of Syria. The last handed the money voluntarily and pleaded guilty.
On behalf of the three was opened a criminal case under art. 324 Criminal Code - passive corruption. If found guilty, they could face up to 10 years imprisonment with a fine of up to MDL 60 000.
All three are in the custody at NAC for 72 hours currently.
Criminal prosecution is conducted by the anticorruption Prosecutors.
