A man from Florești district, detained by the NAC and prosecutors for influence peddling in connection with obtaining a driver's license

The National Anti-corruption Centre, jointly with the prosecutors of the municipality of Bălți, has announced the detention of a resident of the village of Putinești, Florești district, suspected of committing the crime of influence peddling.

According to the case materials, the suspect allegedly claimed to have influence over the employees of the Bălți Vehicle Registration and Driver Documentation Department and allegedly demanded 2,000 euros from a citizen to influence the members of the examination committee to obtain a driver's license. In exchange for the money, the man allegedly promised that the person would be assessed with the qualification "admitted" in both the theoretical and practical tests.

On February 10, 2026, the NAC officers, together with prosecutors from the Bălți Municipal Prosecutor's Office, conducted searches at the suspect's home and in his car. Following the criminal investigation, the man was detained for 72 hours and placed in a detention centre.

Investigations into the case continue, to establish all the circumstances and possible accomplices. The National Anti-corruption Centre recalls that any person is presumed innocent until a final court decision is rendered.
