The NAC and Qatari counterpart strengthen cooperation in combating corruption and criminal assets recovery

The Director of the National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC), Alexandr Pînzari, had a meeting with the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Moldova, His Excellency Dr. Turki bin Abdullah Zaid Al-Mahmoud. The discussions aimed at strengthening cooperation relations between the two states, especially in the field of combating corruption and recovering criminal assets.

During the meeting, the head of the NAC discussed about the importance of international collaboration in the fight against corruption, also mentioning the participation of the Republic of Moldova in the Conference of States Parties to the UN Convention against Corruption. “We want to develop solid partnerships with other states, including the State of Qatar, to facilitate the identification and criminal assets recovery,” said Alexandr Pînzari.

In turn, His Excellency Dr. Turki bin Abdullah Zaid Al-Mahmoud proposed organizing a meeting with counterpart institutions in Qatar, which would allow for a more efficient exchange of information and good practices in the field.

Finally, the parties agreed to continue the dialogue and deepen cooperation, including by signing a Memorandum of Understanding between anti-corruption authorities. This document will strengthen bilateral relations and facilitate the exchange of experience and information in support of anti-corruption investigations.
