Searches in an influence peddling case: A lawyer is investigated by the NAC for demanding bribes between 20,000 and 50,000 euros

Officers of the National Anti-corruption Centre and prosecutors of Chisinau municipality today conducted criminal investigations in an influence peddling case, in which a lawyer is targeted.

According to the case materials, he allegedly claimed to have influence over persons with public positions, who are in the process of being identified, and allegedly demanded sums of money between 20,000 and 50,000 euros from several defendants in a criminal case. In exchange for the financial means, the lawyer allegedly promised to influence the change of the preventive measures applied to them.

As part of the criminal procedural actions undertaken, the NAC officers conducted searches and other special investigative measures to document the facts investigated and accumulate relevant evidence on the case.

Investigations continue to establish all the circumstances and identify all the people involved. At the moment, the lawyer is being investigated at large.
