The NAC and prosecutors are conducting searches in Ialoveni in a case involving the defective execution of a construction contract worth about 40 million lei

Officers of the National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC), together with prosecutors from the Chisinau Municipal Prosecutor's Office, are conducting criminal investigations today in a case targeting the administrator of a construction company, technical managers, site supervisors and two representatives of the local public administration, suspected of abuse of office in the implementation of an infrastructure project in Ialoveni district. The case concerns the execution of a construction contract worth about 40 million lei, having as its object the construction of a sewage and wastewater treatment system in a locality in Ialoveni district.

The criminal investigation, it was found that, during the period 2013–2024, the administrator of the company contracted to carry out the works, although he had a contractual obligation to carry out the project in accordance with the technical documentation, construction standards and established deadlines, would have intentionally admitted deviations from the contractual provisions and the execution project. As a result of these actions, the sewage and wastewater treatment system has not been put into operation to this day, although the local public administration has paid for the works provided for in the contract.

To assess the real situation and identify the causes that prevented the completion of the project, the local public authorities requested a technical expertise by the SE "State Service for the Verification and Expertise of Projects and Constructions". The conclusions of the expertise revealed multiple non-conformities and serious violations of construction standards, the works carried out not corresponding, for the most part, to the approved project. At the same time, it was found that to remedy the situation and capitalize on the public investment, additional demolition and reconstruction works are necessary for some objectives, the estimated costs for which exceed 2 million lei.

At this time, searches are taking place in several locations in the Ialoveni and Telenești districts, to accumulate evidence, establish all the circumstances of the case and identify all the people involved.
